While the potential for making excellent profits may be the first thing you want to check off your list when searching for a franchise system to purchase, it’s also important to consider franchise brand values.
Why Are Franchise Brand Values So Important?
The values of a franchise brand are very similar in nature to the values that any company might have. They may include operating with integrity, the promise of quality goods and services, or a commitment to excellent customer support. Or values might run deeper in certain areas. For example, a brand might have a strong commitment to doing a certain thing, like helping those in need; or not doing a certain thing, like not testing their products on animals.
The difference in franchise brand values and the values that any other company might have is not the nature of the values, but in the relevance of the values to those who operate under the brand, the franchisees.
When you purchase a franchise brand, your business will operate and sell products or services under the franchise brand’s name, following that brand’s processes. Therefore, it makes a lot of sense for the brand to be one that has values that you can align with, respect, and believe in.
Let’s look at it another way. Would you want to get up every day and go to work for a company that you didn’t respect and that held values contrary to your own? You could do it, but how dedicated and how successful are you likely to be?
Franchise Brand Values Can Be a Two-Way Street
While it behooves you to be selective about a franchise brand’s values, you should also be aware that this can be a two-way street. When qualifying franchisees, many franchise brands will ask questions to ensure that you are a good fit for their brand and to make sure you share their core values. This too makes a lot of sense when you think about it. After all, a franchise brand has worked for years—maybe decades—to build a solid reputation, and it doesn’t want to sell its system to a franchisee that is not committed to its values and beliefs, who might tarnish its reputation, or just isn’t the kind of person it wants representing the brand.
At MaidPro, for example, we prefer working with natural learners and positive people. We also believe that people who love their work will do a better job and be happier.
